S TYPEMH-1200S / 1000S / 900S

The popular S-Type series,
which demonstrates the true value of analog audio

Features

  • Because the weight is substantial, heavy cartridges can be mounted without having to position the weight too far back.
  • The weight section’s proximity to the pivot point enhances stability and improves tracking, resulting in a sound with a dramatically richer, more substantial quality.
  • The damper structure has been significantly redesigned to deliver a clearer sound with less distortion.
  • The interior of the tonearm tube features a powerful vibration-damping structure that blocks reflected sound.
  • Components are joined via surface contact; the pivot point is supported by four large-diameter bearings, while the lower vertical axis employs a high-precision thrust bearing—a support structure that allows the heavy tonearm to move with high sensitivity.
  • The weight section features a vibration-damping structure using four different materials, delivering a clear, deep sound with minimal reverberation.
  • The Inside Force Canceller is removable.
  • The headshell’s plug section is a machined, one-piece structure that eliminates unnecessary bulk to reduce weight while firmly supporting the entire cartridge; the plug-in design allows for use with a variety of cartridges.

The pivot section uses four large-diameter bearings, and high-precision thrust bearings have been specifically adopted for the lower portion along the vertical axis. As a result, this support structure allows the heavy arm to move with high sensitivity.

Design and Structure

Arm Pipe

This is an area that greatly affects sound quality. The inside of the arm is lined with high-grade polyester fiber to dampen vibrations.

Weight Section

The design incorporates damper materials of different types—①, ②, ③, and ④—to absorb vibration across a wide frequency range. Rubber material ① is securely fastened with long screws, eliminating concerns about sagging due to aging.

Pivot Points and Product Materials

The arm body is primarily constructed from hard stainless steel. While machining this material was extremely challenging, the result is sound quality of unparalleled excellence. The joints between components are designed to ensure a precise, flush contact surface, minimizing the use of adhesives as much as possible.
If the pivot—which is key to sound quality—has a flimsy structure, it directly affects sound quality. Four large-diameter bearings provide firm support, preventing resonance and wobble while enhancing tracking performance. In particular, the lower bearing along the vertical axis employs a high-precision thrust bearing. Assembled with meticulous care, this support structure enables the heavy tonearm to move with high sensitivity, significantly improving tracking performance.

Tone Arm Deflection Rate

We took great care to ensure the design did not result in a “wild” structure, like swinging a straight rod around. Imagine swinging an L-shaped rod—it places unnecessary torsional stress on your hand. With that in mind, we positioned a “vibration-absorbing structure” at the most precise location to effectively dampen distortion.

Inside Force Canceller (IFC)

True to our motto, “Simple is best,” we designed the Inside Force Canceller, armrest, and arm lifter to be easily removable. Removing unnecessary components from the tonearm reduces distortion and results in a clearer sound quality.

Headshell

The use of a machined, one-piece construction has significantly reduced vibration loss. Furthermore, by trimming away all unnecessary material as much as possible, we’ve achieved a weight comparable to aluminum despite being made of stainless steel, resulting in an ultra-lightweight structure that firmly supports the entire cartridge. The rubber on the top absorbs unwanted signals. The slim, 10-mm-wide design provides support close to the cartridge’s core; by connecting directly to this area, vibration loss is reduced and sound quality is further enhanced.

Output Cable Mounting Point Below the Pivot

We designed this to have an extremely simple structure. The screw is an M8. By customizing the base to fit your player—specifically the section where the lead wire passes through the center—you can mount it on various players without using the included base.
