GLANZ is a brand that has continued to produce masterpieces in tonearms for many years, earning the unwavering support of audio enthusiasts. Crafted through the advanced techniques of artisans with a deep understanding of materials, these ultimate tonearms will guide you to the pinnacle of “pure” sound that remains faithful to the original recording.

Founded in 1951, Mitachi Acoustics Co., Ltd. has been at the forefront of analog audio, developing and manufacturing cartridges and tonearms. The company has supplied products not only under its own brand (GLANZ) but also as OEM components to audio manufacturers both in Japan and overseas. Masataka Hamada, who was involved in the development of the GLANZ brand, took over the GLANZ division at Mitachi Acoustics and continues to develop the ultimate tonearm to this day.

The "GLANZ tonearm" was designed and manufactured to faithfully reproduce musical information.

The History of Mitachi Acoustics—From Its Inception to GLANZLAB

1951
Kunpei Mitachi founded Mitachi Corporation. Development and commercialization of the Rochelle salt cartridge.
1953
Mitachi Acoustics Co., Ltd. established.
1962
Precision Machining Plant established.
1968
Tokai Plant established; increased production of tone arms.
1969
Established the Tohoku Plant; developed the CD4 cartridge
1975
Established a plating plant; achieved high-quality plating using groundwater from Mount Fuji
2003
Dissolved due to various circumstances
2008
Developer Masataka Hamada took over the GLANZ brand and relaunched the company as the rebuilder of Mitachi Acoustics
2024
Changed the trademark to GLANZLAB

While working at Mitachi Acoustics Co., Ltd., I held numerous patents and utility model registrations related to cartridges and tonearms. I have provided technology not only to domestic audio manufacturers but also to leading overseas manufacturers, helping bring numerous products to market. My philosophy is to pursue “sound that is faithful to the original.” Our products aim for the very highest standards. “Sound that is faithful to the original” is our ultimate goal.
